Cycles of Animation is a quintet featuring Loren Stillman, Brad Shepik, Santiago Leibson, and Chris Carroll. They released a record in 2017 on Skirl Records which has been described as having "a good deal of rhythmic dynamism and a fluid, loosely-structured sound, a convincing statement from Lovato and a sign of even better things to come" (All About Jazz) and as being "a showcase for an organic mosaic of colors, rhythms, and textures. Resorting to clever structural vistas, Lovato penned engaging pieces that emphasize the collective and the individual alike" (Jazz Trail).

Microcosms-A Suite for Improvisers
Microcosms: A Suite for Improvisers is a work composed with the intent of bringing together musicians of different disciplines, improvisatory approaches, and musical philosophies to collaborate within a framework where they can explore their common ground as artists. The piece was commissioned by new-music outfit Hotel Elefant and premiered in October of 2017 at the Cell Theatre, New York, NY.
